about

Wendy Lisa Nichol is a Toronto based ceramic artist. She received a BFA in Drawing and Painting with a minor in Material Arts and Design from Ontario College of Art and Design University in 2014. With 10+ years of experience in ceramics, the work she creates is hand-built by coiling and slab building with clay. Wendy alternates her practice to find the balance between sculptural art objects and unique functional homewares. She has worked as a Studio Technician for the past 6 years in various clay studios around Toronto, sharing knowledge and caring for the clay community.

With formal training in drawing and painting, other methods for gaining experience and knowledge in ceramics were obtained through the years of volunteering and working with community clay studios. She began teaching hand-building classes, mentoring artists, then working as a Studio Technician. Caring for the clay community of artists in Toronto is a major part in Wendy’s artistic practice and continues to grow by providing firings, sharing knowledge and making connections with artists through collaboration.
